I was recently sisterlocked on May 22, 2010. It took only about 8 hours - rare in the sisterlock world. I don't know how many locs I actually have - never counted, though my wonderful consultant, Rhonda Bowen, says that I have about 300. I started out with maybe 1 to 3 inches of hair as I have a spot at the crown of my head that itches profusely and grows at a much slower rate than the rest of my hair.
I had a lot of slippage during the first two months. In fact, I had more slippage during the second month than the first. It was a little frustrating for me, but I'm patient. This is my 4th set of locks, so I know that my hair will lock eventually. The sisterlocks are behaving a little different than my traditional sets as my hair would start to lock almost immediately with traditional locks. This set is taking longer. I figure it is because of the humidity in air. My hair is naturally thin and dry, but soaks up water. I'm hoping for less slippage during this 3rd month.
